Professional Cook Mini Trades Sampler

The Professional Cook Trades Sampler at Imagine High is a full-day program designed to provide students currently in Grade 10 & 11 with hands-on, industry-informed culinary learning.


 

Students will be enrolled in two Trades Sampler credit courses and will gain practical experience in a professional kitchen environment while exploring pathways in the culinary arts. This experience is particularly well suited for students applying to the Professional Cook 1 (PC1) program or those considering culinary arts as a potential pathway.

 

During the sampler: 

  • students are introduced to the fundamental principles of professional cookery and large-scale food production. 
  • emphasis is placed on food safety and sanitation standards, along with the development of foundational skills that support efficiency, organization, and workflow in a professional kitchen.
  • Students engage in menu planning and practical execution, with hands-on experience in both culinary and baking applications. 
  • the program also includes an introduction to pastry arts and specialty confections
  • exposure to cafeteria-style service and operations
